Step-by-Step Instructions for Bourbon Chicken
  1. Begin by cutting the chicken breasts into 1-inch chunks. In a bowl, combine chicken pieces with 2 tbsp cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. Heat 1/4 cup vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in batches, cooking about 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in water, soy sauce, apple juice, chicken broth, ketchup, bourbon, white vinegar, brown sugar, ground ginger, and onion powder. Stir and bring to a gentle boil.
