Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven according to the instructions on your brownie mix packaging, typically around 350°F (175°C). Prepare a greased 13x9 inch pan.
- In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine sugar, light corn syrup, eggs, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk together for about 15 minutes until thickened.
- Prepare the brownie mix as directed. Pour it into the greased pan and spread evenly. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until edges pull away from the pan.
- Remove the brownie base from the oven and add the pecan filling over the top. Spread it evenly.
- Bake for an additional 25 to 30 minutes until the pecan topping jiggles slightly in the center.
- Allow brownies to cool to room temperature before slicing into generous squares.
