Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook until it’s beautifully browned, about 7-10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula. Once browned, drain the excess fat.
- Return the skillet with the beef to low heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of onion powder and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the seasoned ground beef with 3 cups of cooked white rice, 1 can of condensed French onion soup, and 1 cup of sour cream. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with a little butter or cooking spray.
- Spread the beef and rice mixture evenly in the greased baking dish. Use a spatula to tightly pack it.
- Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
- Once baked, let the casserole cool for a few minutes. If desired, sprinkle chopped parsley on top before serving.

Notes
Using day-old rice enhances flavor absorption and prevents a mushy texture. Experimenting with different cheeses can elevate the dish's flavor profile.
