  3. Stir in the smashed lemongrass, minced garlic, and grated ginger and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the fish sauce, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and optional red chili peppers.
  5. Add rinsed clams to the pot, cover, and steam for 5-7 minutes until clams open.
  6. Discard unopened clams after steaming for safety.
  7. Ladle the clams and broth into bowls, ensuring each serving is generous.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
