Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with foil and an oven-safe rack.
  2. Mix brown sugar, black pepper, water, and cayenne pepper in a bowl until a paste forms.
  3. Coat both sides of the bacon slices with the brown sugar mixture.
  4. Bake bacon for 15 minutes, flip, and then bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until crispy.
  5. Cool bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Slice baguette and brush with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  8. Bake baguette slices for 7 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Assemble by pressing the bacon pieces into the goat cheese log.
  10. Drizzle maple syrup over the log and serve with crispy crostini.
